In the latest weeks, I’ve been pretty lucky in WoW so I got quite a few mounts, toys and Arfus! So instead of filling the Quickies section with a ton of screenshots, here’s a roundup of some of the best features and drops.

Life-Binder’s Handmaiden

I needed to run Firelands timewalking for the item to complete the Phoenix Wishwing pet. And since I was already there, people said that the end boss of the timewalking raid completes a quest with good gear and has a decent chance of dropping a mount. So I decided to take my chance, as I always wanted to experience a TW raid end boss. It was fairly easy and BOYY I GOT LUCKY! In one of the kills of Ragnaros, I met a fun hunter who brought me a ton of luck. How lucky? Well, I got Life-Binder’s Handmaiden in the box, so that means less Deathwing runs in the future. But the streak doesn’t end here.

Experiment 12-B

A few runs later, I got another Dragon Soul mount, this means less runs for me there (which is great, because I hate Spine of Deathwing). This day was getting even better!

Flametalon of Alysrazor

Motivated by the luck in the previous kills, it took me another two attempts to get another rare mount in the box, which was dropped originally by Alysrazor (where I have about 50+ kills), which brought me to 3 very rare mounts in a single day!

Ashes of Al’ar

After the great success of the previous day, I took my chance on the next timewalking campaign, and went to defeat Illidan over a few times and eventually got Ashes, of which I had about 40 unsuccessful kills so far. Seems like I’ve got a lucky charm!

Swift White Hawkstrider

To properly complete the mount run during The Burning Crusade timewalking week, I got lucky to get in a group where THREE Hawkstriders dropped, unfortunately none for me. I was lucky though as one of the fellas in the dungeon already had it and happily traded it to me. <3

Raven Lord

I FOUND THE ANZU BABY! Honestly, this is one of the mounts I like the most in the game, and even though I had the armored version for a while, this is way cooler. IT’S ANZU!!!

Taking Orgrimmar - Black War Bear

Friday the 13th October was indeed a day from the nightmares for the Horde, as the Alliance took over first Silvermoon and then Orgrimmar after slaying Lor’themar Theron and Rokhan. We also took the opportunity to strike a pose in the big yard of Orgrimmar on our newly acquired Black War Bears. For the Alliance!

Mimiron’s Head

Thought I’d never see this mount again, after seeing him drop in the first run of Ulduar I ever did and then trade it to someone else.

Son of Galleon

After 195 attempts, Galleon finally decided to drop his son’s saddle. Yay!

Invincible

Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking meant one thing: Gonna slapp Yogg-Saron over and over until I find the Invisible one in the quest chest. And guess what? After 12 kills, the 13th was the lucky one! New favourite mount woo! I am going to miss those ICC runs, maybe I’ll keep doing them for fun. <3

Kor’kron Juggernaut

Garrosh Hellscream trusted me with the keys to the Kor’kron Juggernaut after 51 kills. Now, for the Tusks of Mannoroth, I might have to wait another century.

Sunhide Gronnling

So I met Poundfist in Draenor, I pounded him with my fist and he gave me a gronnling. Woop woop!

Kaldorei Nightsaber

The last mount I needed from Darkshore, except for the Frightened Kodo, of course. Read below.

Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr purr purr.

Frightened Kodo

As stated above, this was the last mount I needed from Darkshore. Because I was feeling pretty sick the last few days, I decided to camp this while I was idling in bed on my name day morning. And this turned out to be a fairly lucky thing, as I found the Kodo after 20 minutes of waiting for my tea to brew and cool down a little. Happy name day to me!

Abyss Worm

After tens of runs of Tomb of Sargeras, the Abyss Worm dropped when I was expecting it the least. I’m so happy, I never thought I’d see it drop.

Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent

After 211 kills, Nalak decided today to give me the Reins of the Thundering Cobalt Cloud Serpent. Well, that took a while.

Time-Lost Proto Drake

Being on an RP server means that you’ve got your own shard. And turning war mode on ensures that you’re all alone in the world. It’s like having your own private official server. And going at 3 in the afternoon to randomly check for something that was never there the other 13947861 times I’ve checked before. Another super rare added to the roster!

Cobalt Primordial Direhorn

One of the few direhorns I was missing, Oondasta finally decided to drop its reins after 255 kills, bringing the Pandaria World Boss droprate to an average of one every 175 kills.

Drake of the South Wind

After 115 kills, I got the Drake from Al’Akir in the Throne of the Four Winds raid. This was pretty easy and fun to do, as the raid is short and very fast to clear (it has only two bosses).

Sharkbait

After 117 attempts, I finally was able to find Sharkbait’s Favourite Crackers in the trove of Harlan Sweete in Freehold. Besides this, the endless streams of pirates, and catching the pig mechanic of that other boss, Freehold is and will remain probably the most fun dungeon in the game.

Prestigious Midnight Courser

This was not luck, this was actually hard work. No, it wasn’t. Doing epic battlegrounds is always fun, and as a reward for reaching honor level 250, I got this beautiful armored horse.

Bonus — Achievement: The Alterac Blitz

Leading a great group (not even a premade) and with a bit of luck of scaling, we were able to trample the Horde in Alterac Valley and kill the boss in under 6 minutes, on September 1st. I just remembered I had a screenshot of it.

Bonus — Battle Pet: Arfus

When I saw the new reward of the revamped Hallow’s End holiday, I knew I had to have Arfus. Doing runs over and over and over again, and eventually it dropped. Two days before the end of the event, on the 166th kill of the Horseman.

Last minute edit — Vitreous Stone Drake

Not knowing what to farm, I was looking on SimpleArmory to check what mounts can I farm. I went to Deepholm to search for Aeonaxx with no success and thought to give a try to the Stonecore dungeon, to see how much time it would take me to get to the second boss, to see if this is gonna be a long farm or not. I also had that feeling that it might drop, so I was like “hell, why not?”. Well, turns out that I’m one farm less, as it dropped on the first tracked attempt (I’ve done this dungeon a maximum of 10 times)

Second last minute edit — Underrot Crawg

Just after the weekly reset, I decided to start the weekly killing of the Unbound Abomination in the Underrot Dungeon over and over again, and it finally dropped, after 174 tries. It’s not a lot of them. Because you could skip the entire dungeon up to the last boss, this might be the last mount I’ll be actively farm for now, as the others have pretty long dungeons that need to be run entirely.

Thanks!

Big thanks to the people I play with for providing inspiration, luck, patience, help, company, and (sometimes) skips. This is dedicated to each of you for keeping parts of the World of Warcraft universe alive. Big shout out to Nikita and my guild, Perplexíty.
