For the second part of this series, I’m going to tackle Romanian music, because I’ve discovered a lot of older good songs this year and there were some nice releases too.
Bucharest City - Ioane Ioane
January 7th brings the holiday of Saint John in the Orthodox Calendar, the main religion in Romania. So I was looking for a jazzy version of the song “Ioane Ioane” and I was amazed to discover this small gem that got only 3.1K views in 8 years.
Cosmin Covei - Regele la folk
The deep voice half of Tapinarii, Cosmin Covei made us a gift for his birthday and it’s a lovely song. Cheers, mate! 🍷
Andra Andriucă – Nu mă opresc
2024 was the year when Andra released her first EP, containing six excellent songs.

Holy Molly - Orb pe mare / Spune-mi / Jumătate live @ DWMT
Another absolutely bonkers live from Diud, now putting Holy Molly in the spotlight with a full live band and a great musical triptych. Love to see Alex Turcu rocking so hard.
Macanache - Trei Chestii (CLIP OFICIAL)
Macanache is Mister International, Mister Worldwide, The Greatest of All Time and the MVP all at the same time. Great beat, awesome lyrics, punches that land perfectly.
Vlad Dobrescu – Tot ce-ti trebuie (ft. Macanache, OSCAR, Chimie, Nicolla)
Unbelievable as it sounds, Vlad Dobrescu released his second solo album after so many years of great career with/in C.T.C. and it’s absolutely amazing. Below, one of the best tracks of the album.
Erika Isac - Macarena
With a strong delivery and a strong message, Erika Isac puts a giant spotlight on violence against women.
Coma - Mai multe zâmbete
A mixture of soft and strong lyrics and sounds in their typical setup, this is another uplifting and energising song that makes you jump into the mosh pit.
H8 – Tare
Great song from one of the oldest and best hardcore rock bands in Romania, unfortunately way too underrated.
Anðrás.k ft. Nick Fǎgǎdar - Radical Nothing (Official Video)
Kovács András (KUMM) teams up with Nick from Luna Amarǎ and they bring us a heartfelt song that touches the soul.
Luna Amară - Distanțe depline (visualiser)
Slow and melancholic, Luna Amară teases one with one more song from their next album which I’m waiting so much!
Hoții (Socol x Somnușor) - Luna Amară / 20 de ani de Asfalt (Tanagra Noise, Asfalt, Ego nr.4)
A musical triptych covering some of the greatest songs released by Luna Amară on their first album, now in a post-rock/psychedelic interpretation
Bosquito - Deșert
Radu Almășan and his Bosquito keep releasing great song after great song and this is another masterpiece that’s on their discography.

Firma are back with an excellent song, in the note that we already know. Excellent song.

Vita de Vie - Intre valuri
Solid Romanian rock, I wouldn’t have expected anything less than this from them.
The Kryptonite Sparks - Zi După Zi După Zi
TKS released in 2024 this nostalgia-filled video for a great song along with a new album, which contains some of their best songs ever.
Alex & The Fat Penguins - Just a fool [Warehouse Live Session]
Although I’ve written about Alex and his Fat Penguins before, “Just a fool” is one of their best songs ever, and probably one of my favourite Romanian songs. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend their latest concerts in Bucharest, but this recording from the warehouse is amazing, just like their concerts. Also try “Ursul” (The Bear), from the same recording session.
Ada Milea - Drumu-i Lin De-Aici La Vale (TOESUP Remix)
Made by producer/remixer/controllerism-ninja Vlad aka TOESUP, it’s a banging remix of a song by Ada Milea. I love this crossover, especially since the genre distance is so huge, it’s basically transcendental. Cool remix!
Snails - Lele
After more than a ten year hiatus, Snails is back with a strong song with ethnic influences. Great to have them back!
Satoshi - Soarele Răsare Din Nou
Coming from the Republic of Moldova, Satoshi hits us with a banging song, great lyrics, and an insane drum banging on the song’s closing.
