Usually in this section I’d dump links towards the best posts of the year, but the ones above are a good read. For the rest, I’ll let you scroll the everything archive and see what you like most.

Let’s start with what I consider the most underrated section of the site, the 366 Project. This year I somehow managed to burn out, and while it was fun and entertaining at some points, I dreaded the moment when I realized I missed a day and I’d need to look in my library for a spare photo (which I sometimes do). For 2025 I’m having a new photo project in plan, which should focus on less posts, but a different approach, but until here are a few of the best ones.
Movies!. It was a good year for watching movies, but unfortunately (or expected?) it was a pretty meh year for new movies. I’ve watched a lot of good and very good old movies, both Romanian and foreign, from the 50s until more recent times.
Best movies watched in 2024? Well, I think it’s a tie between The Wandering Earth II (2023), Grand Prix (1966) and Last Night (1998), each of them a masterpiece by itself and a highlight of their respective genres. On the other hand, Morometii 3 (2024) gets the “award” for the best movie released in 2024, with Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) as a second.
Because of so many good movies I’ve spoken above (and bad ones, Sharknado amirite?), I also need to speak a bit about the best TV series I’ve watched this year. Fargo was a great series and I love this one-season-one-story anthology type and I can’t wait for new seasons. Continuing on the mystery theme, the first season of Wayward Pines was the thing that Lost could have been, and [Nier: Automata Ver1.1a] takes the best animation award, being seconded closely by the great Blue Eye Samurai. However, the best TV series I’ve seen this year is not Shogun, is not The Boys, it has to be the wholesome and kind-hearted Derry Girls. Absolutely craic.
In the records section, I was able to add just a bit over 100 records, but many of them are signed and/or coming from Romanian artists, and also 2024 brought some nice new releases that landed in my collection, apart from the songs mentioned in the “Best of 2024” post.
Last year I said I might even sell a few gadgets because of my lack of space, and of course it didn’t happen, and I’ve managed to publish 20 gadgets on the site, some that I had for a while like the Nokia phones, and some that I bought during this year, like the 1975 VEF Spidola 230-1 identical to the one my grandmother had. Also it was the year when my best friend gifted me his first laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1501. It was also the year when I finally had the time to spend more time with the 15.4" inch Vaio that simulates my first PC, during the Old Computer Challenge 2024 in a party like it’s 2004. I’ve also butchered a Nokia Booklet 3G in the Retro Challenge 2024/10 - Pumpkin Spiced Booklet.
I wish I could write about each concert I attended this year, but that might take me another year. Twenty two concerts, each of them very good, with its small place in my heart (and in the concerts section) for ever.
I should start to make a new category in the site where I gather all the posts travel-related and outdoor, as I seem to have done this quite a lot this year. Tenerife (three times!), Timisoara, Sibiu, Vienna were all great destinations, but also the outdoor adventures we had fairly close to home were really nice.
Nerd alert!
Before the new year comes over us, let’s take a moment and talk about graphs! AGAIN!!!
Looking at the monthly graph, you can see the time when I went full on movie watching, averaging more than a movie per day. It also shows how my posting habits come in waves, every now and then changing focus from one thing to the other.
The weekly graph shows a generally flat curve, with a high on Mondays, because I sometimes write on Sunday evenings and publish past midnight or the morning after. You can also see that I usually watch movies during the weekends.
At the end of the article and the year, may the New Year find you with love in your heart and bring you happiness and good luck!
