After the European tournament of 2008, Romania suffered a dry spell, failing to qualify to WC 2010, Euro 2012 and WC 2014. (I’m pretty sure you can see a pattern here). After a good qualification campaign, Romania was drawn into a group with hosts France, along with Albania and Switzerland.

After a close loss in the opening game against the hosts, spirits were high and hopes for and advance to the knockout phase was possible. But a draw with Switzerland, followed by a loss in front of Albania meant the Romanian team was sent home in shambles, with only one point and hopes shattered. Everyone is talking about the “Golden Generation” and how the new players are far from those performances.

This was my return to collecting stuff, as I took a break similar to the one taken by the players. I also got so many doubles by the time I finished the album, I was 10 stickers short of completing a second one. Which I did. This is also the first album I got an update set for.
