Irregular migrants Okwe and Senay work at a posh London hotel and live in constant fear of deportation. One night Okwe stumbles across evidence of a bizarre murder setting off a series of events that could lead to disaster or freedom.
Not only the movie is wonderfully written by Steven Knight (See, Locke, Spencer), but also the directing by Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons, The Queen, Philomena) is fantastic. Add to the mix the less-shiny part of London, with the abuses on immigrants, mix in some great acting from Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Dr. Strange 2) and Audrey Tautou (Amelie, The Da Vinci Code) and you get yourself a very very good movie. The story grips you and the acting makes it so believable that you root for the characters and you feel their struggle.
Senay: One of the laundry girls did it and now she is free. Okwe: Others are dead! Senay: So they are free, too.
Six popcorns and goes to the movie vault.
