I figured I’d drop a few words here about the gatefold vinyl edition of La Familia - Foarte. Leaving the music aside for a moment because “de gustibus non dispudandum” and because in my opinion it might be their best album since “Nicăieri nu-i ca acasă” (for the noobs, that’s the one with “Tupeu de borfaș” and “Uneori viața e o târfă”), I want to talk a bit about the release itself.

First of all, it feels fantastic in your hands. You can tell Gianiny is a true connoisseur of physical releases, and that shows in every detail.

Premium materials, printed cardboard inner sleeves with lyrics and thank-yous—not those sad, flimsy paper sleeves I see in so many half-baked releases. The records sound incredibly good, properly mastered. the beats bang beautifully on my speakers, the vocals are crisp, and overall it sounds exactly how a vinyl should sound.

Releases like this are pretty rare in Romania, and I really hope to see a lot more cool stuff soon—both from La Familia and projects that pass through G’s hand and critical eye. I can’t wait for my Foarte Limitată version to arrive too 😃

Oh, and instead of a PS: the fact that they added the extended version of “Lupta continuă” on vinyl instantly makes me think of those all-star tracks that are already classics in Romanian hip-hop.
