In response to the silliest person on the internet. For a bit of backstory, I was for a while a mod on the r/BlackMirror subreddit, and currently helping them on the discord server.
initially reddit admins said that moderators are the ones to decide how subreddits are moderated, now they intervene to force the mods into doing something, because it hurts reddit’s pocket.
given the fact that regardless of the protest, the show is still age-restricted and tackles deeply NSFW topics (violence, paedophilia, bestiality – that’s fucking a pig, and many others), I think the r/blackmirror sub needs to be marked as nsfw. it’s common sense. This is happening to a lot of other subreddits in the same category (a ton of posts about it on https://www.reddit.com/r/ModCoord/). just because we’re over 18, it doesn’t mean that everyone on the internet is over 18.
there is absolutely no need for a credible alternative to reddit to exist. the best alternative is simply to make reddit better, which we tried to do, but reddit management has shown over and over that they care more about money rather than about its userbase, that’s why people are jumping ship.
also given the fact that moderating a subreddit is basically unpaid internship at reddit, saying “I don’t think the Admins are doing anything wrong and I think Spez (Steve Huffman) is a good CEO” makes @[redacted] look either as a Reddit shill, undercover employee, or just suffering of some sort of on-line Stockholm syndrome. i’d usually respect his opinion and not attack him personally, but it’s the nth time he’s defended getting trampled by reddit staff/admins.
given the situation, i don’t know if I can be in a staff containing someone with such a high tolerance to corporate bullshitting, so I’m asking @[redacted] to remove my discord moderator permissions. I will remain on the server for a while, as a normal black mirror fan.
so long, and thanks for all the fish!
PS: fuck u/spez, the little greedy pigboy.
