I played a lot of Suguru Nature on my Nintendo Switch back in the winter, so I decided to give a chance to some of the titles by the developer, Hook Games, as it seems that the puzzle titles are the ones I like most playing on the Switch, and this is how I met Wordify.

The game has 250 puzzles, broken into ten chapters, covering 5 difficulties. The gameplay is easy and fun, but unfortunately has some big drawbacks:

  • Some bugs will make the cross-words touch each other into nonsense, thank the gods the game has “hint” features. As well as using a hint when you’re out of luck and just getting a “blank” tile turned up.
  • The long word of the level is always clockwise or anticlockwise and it makes the guess fairly quick.
  • There are no multiple big words, only a few of three-letter words (rarely some four-letter ones), which is annoying, because you have to try a lot of combinations (sometimes words like SEA, SET, TEA, ATE), most of them who are not added to that level’s word list. Or “RODE” is a valid word, but “RIDE” and “FIRE” aren’t.
  • The difficulty level just gives longer “maximum” words, but keeping the same three-letter additional words.

The sale price of €2.99 is way better than the original price of €4.99s, so if you’re interested in this, try to get it on sale as it drops to €0.99 some times, and while I don’t think it’s a “must play” game, it’s a decent game to play on the toilet. The music, although repetitive, is actually nice and the overall graphic of the game is decent.

This started interesting, but fizzled out very fast, becoming way too repetitive and boring. If you can stomach the boredom of the first 175-ish levels, it does pick up and becomes interesting. It’s sad, because three simple things could fix the game very easy:

  • change the words and have them be more varied
  • make the letters more scrambled in the starting position
  • use more four and five letter words earlier in the lower levels rather than in the last 75-ish.

Three joysticks.
