One year after enjoying The Sound of Music in Pyongyang, it was time to move on to something more refined, most likely a locally-created rendition of the classic western propaganda piece named “사랑은 비를 타고”.
The first part, on a 10" disc is featuring vocals from the Supreme Leader’s half-brother neighbour from two blocks down the street, it sports a set of wonderful songs about the lovely climate of DPRK (On This Flowery Spring Day), the wonderful country (A Beautiful and Nice Plays to Live in), and feeling extremely accomplished (We Sing of Our Happiness Unbounded), while singing their love for the country and the Supreme Leader (I Shall Always Remain Loyal).
The second part of this epic journey takes us into the female protagonist’s childhood, recalling the wonderful summer vacations where they discovered that It’s a campsite built by Marshal Jungchang, where she was able to School My Rabbit, but never forgetting the patriotic duty to Sing our happy song with light music and instruments of love Song Geumseong. Fun times.
I’m still looking for the third part, the one where the main protagonists find the third partner and they start doing shenanigans and catch bad guys, Scooby-Doo style and two of them fall in love. Maybe when I’ll find the DVD or something.
Or these just might be patriotic songs, how the hell would I know?
