This console was usually known as “Rambo” in Romania, because of the few clones that happened to land around here mid 90s. Although I never had one, I remember fondly playing some Pong on the console of a classmate, back in ‘95 or so and it was super fun!

So it was a very nice surprise when my sister Cristina, who lives in Italy for some years asked me if I’m interested in having one. They had one around the house and they wouldn’t throw it away or sell it, because it was owned by the late brother of her husband, Franco. I never had the opportunity to meet Franco, but based on the games that he passed on to me, I can say he was an avid gamer.

The console needs some fiddling, as the video output is very noisy, most likely to slowly failing capacitors, and the controllers feel very mushy, but it’s still a nice throwback to play a bit of Super Ferrari, Tennis, Stopp die Gangster, Pac-Kong or even Mario Bros.

All in all, the console is a really nice addition to my collection and I’m going to bring it soon into a workshop to sort out the TV signal noise and maybe set it up with some controllers that are better than the mushy QuickShot ones.

I’d want to thank Franco once more for the opportunity and I hope that me using his console makes him happy wherever he is.

La console ha bisogno di qualche aggiustamento, dato che l’uscita video è molto rumorosa, probabilmente a causa dei condensatori che si guastano lentamente, e i controller sembrano molto mollicci, ma è comunque un bel ritorno al passato per giocare un po’ a Super Ferrari, Tennis, Stopp die Gangster, Pac-Kong o anche Mario Bros.

Tutto sommato, la console è una bella aggiunta alla mia collezione e presto la porterò in un laboratorio per sistemare il rumore del segnale TV e magari installarci dei controller migliori di quelli mollicci di QuickShot.
