Lost in the sands of time, but definitely coming from the 1990s, an age where Chinese products dropped their labels and everything had a generic name and absolutely no branding1, having no other labels in or out, with the word “STEREO” the only word written on the device, this was one walkman portable cassette player that could be found in Romania in the middle of the 1990s.

I remember my sisters having a red one (the same as the one pictured below), and a white one who also had external speakers that you could connect by a 3.5mm jack (which cannot be found on the internet). From the box I remember there was a black and possibly a blue one as well.

I am happy I was able to find a red one for my collection, and I was happy to find some stock photos on the internet with the black one, as well as a couple of ads on a local classifieds site.

PS: 1 In terms of branding, or lack of it, these remind me a lot of the Brick Game (999,999,)999in1 tetris clones that were everywhere during the same time period. Maybe they were made by the same manufacturer, who knows?

October 2024 Update

I found another one of these in the wild, on OLX (Romania’s ebay variant), in perfect condition, for about 40 euros (which is a bit expensive if you ask me). So I’ve decided not to buy it, but decided to steal the photos and post them here. Enjoy!
