I think it’s about 15 years since I’ve last seen something from the Battlestar Galactica universe, so I decided it’s the perfect time to start once again. The series itself is pretty decent in size (74 episodes) and also benefits of a TV spin-off (“Caprica”), a couple of TV movies (“Blood & Chrome”, “Razor”, “The Plan”) and some webisodes as well. The universe is absolutely fantastic, the music (mosly by Bear McCreary) is top notch, the acting and sets are very well made, making this one of the best science-fiction universes made after 2000. Just as any long running series, it has its weaker points every now and then, but generally speaking, everything with this is superlative. So without further ado, I’m going to write a bit about each of them, as well as highlighting their order, in-universe chronological timeline, rather than by release date.
Below you can find a simple spoiler-less list, without details of photos, but after you can find more details regarding each bundle, and might contain some mild spoilers..

Caprica 2009-2011 — post
Watch the entire prequel series to understand how the Cylons were created and for more insight on the pre-war culture and civilization of the Twelve Colonies of Kobol. It stars Eric Stoltz as Daniel Graystone, Esai Morales as Joseph Adama (father of William), and Alessandra Torresani as Zoe Graystone. Too bad it got cancelled after the first season, cramming about four extra seasons of story into the second half of the first season, but in the end, it’s a solid retro-futuristic virtual reality cyberpunk sci-fi drama. I saw this back in 2010, weekly when each episode was released, and it’s a good starting point for the series, although it’s not actually mandatory. It is a bit slow burning at times, a bit annoying at other times (I kinda hate the mother, so this means she plays it well) and liked a lot the combination between technology, politics, religion and mobsters.
Blood & Chrome 2012 — post
Made in 2012, this prequel focuses on the story of William Adama during his first mission as a pilot in the First Cylon War. The visuals of this are decent, and even though it’s a TV movie, it’s got some really nice CGI, but man oh man, they sure loved their lens flares back in 2012, as they are frakking everywhere mixing with bright lights all over the place. Still a strong action sci-fi with some awesome space battles and decent story telling, which makes this an optional watch.
The Mini-Series 2003 — post
Released in 2003, the suspense, the world building (and destroying), the writing, the acting, the cinematography, everything is superlative. It sets up the following TV series and is a great point of entrance in the Battlestar Galactica universe. It’s here where you meet Gaius Baltar and Caprica Six, Captain William Adama and his son callsign “Apollo”, the loose cannon Starbuck, along with some great other characters. Three hours of proper sci-fi action-drama about the beginning of the end of the Twelve Colonies’ civilization and the start of the road for the survival of the human species. It’s also here where we find out how many Cylon models are there and who four of them are. If you don’t care about the spin-offs, this is where you need to start watching.

Razor 2007 — post
For Battlestar Galactica: Razor I recommend watching the extended version. It also helps watching the Razor Flashbacks, a series of 7 Webisodes, that can be found on Youtube.
The Razor TV movie is a two-hour special that tells the story of the Battlestar Pegasus several months prior to it finding the Galactica. It’s basically everything that happened in the last 10-15 episodes, but from the other side of the barricade. Love to see these in-depth looks at the facts.

After the events of Razor, the second Season wraps up nicely.

The Resistance 2006 — post
This 10 episodes miniseries bridges the gap between the humans’ settlement on New Caprica and the start of the Cylon occupation. The story focuses on the growing underground movement that forms to resist Cylon control, highlighting key characters like Tyrol, Tigh, Anders, and Cally as they grapple with collaboration, rebellion, and survival under oppressive rule
You can watch all the parts combined, on YouTube.
Season 3 2006-2007
Season 3 delves into the aftermath of human occupation and resistance on New Caprica, exploring themes of trauma, loyalty, and moral compromise. The fleet faces growing divisions as leaders struggle to balance justice with survival. Relationships are tested, alliances shift, and questions of identity deepen—especially around the Cylons and what defines humanity. Political intrigue and religious undertones drive much of the tension, while the search for Earth remains a distant hope. The season blends intense drama with psychological depth, setting up major revelations that reshape the series’ direction.

The Face of the Enemy 2008-2009 — post
This is a web miniseries that follows Lt. Gaeta during a routine Raptor flight that goes wrong, leaving him and a small crew— including a Number Eight Cylon—stranded in deep space.
You can watch all the parts in a playlist, on YouTube.
Season 4 (continued)
Season 4 continues with some more drama. I’m not going to talk about what happens in the show, but I can say I won’t add many other photos from the fourth season, because the story starts to pick up in pace, things happen and the puzzle pieces fall into place to finish the story.
- Episode 12, A Disquiet Follows My Soul
- Episode 13, The Oath
- Episode 14, Blood on the Scales
- Episode 15, No Exit
The Plan 2007 — post
This is probably one of the best “side-content” that you can watch, and this is the perfect time to see it. The movie revisits key events from the early seasons of the series, but seen from the Cylons’ perspective. It reveals how the Cylon “plan” to exterminate humanity was conceived and executed, providing a lot of insight into the Cylons’ thinking.
Season 4 (continued)
This is it. The final hundred yards, the home stretch. My personal advice is to watch episodes 16 to 18, take a break and then watch the last three episodes in one sitting, as they’re action and story packed, and they’re (for good reason!) considered some of the best in the history of television.
- Episode 16, Deadlock
- Episode 17, Someone to Watch Over Me
- Episode 18, Islanded In a Stream of Stars
- Episode 19, Daybreak, Part 1
- Episode 20, Daybreak, Part 2
- Episode 21, Daybreak, Part 3
Thank you for reading and enjoy the watch!
So say we all.
