A documentary about Stanisław Latałło, main actor in “Illumination” by Krzysztof Zanussi (1972). He wanted to be a director, he first worked as a director of photography with Tadeusz Konwicki on “So far, so close”, then became a cult figure when “Illumination” won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno film festival. He then accompanied the Polish Himalaya Expedition to Mount Lhotse in 1974, as a cameraman, and died there. He was 29. This film is a very personal reflection about his fate, with the participation of family and friends, well-known figures of Polish Cinema such as Agnieszka Holland, Krzysztof Zanussi, Tadeusz Konwicki, told in the first person perspective by the director of this film, his son Marcin Latałło.
After watching “The Illumination”, and learning about the tragic fate of the main actor, Stanisław Latałło, I also learned about this short documentary (26 minutes) made by his son, Marcin Latałło. Five popcorns and it goes into the Movie Vault, not only because it’s good, but also because I found only one result of it online, and has 300 views, so if it’s gone, it’s lost forever.
