Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story (2009)
Biography of Ben Carson who grew up to be Dr. Ben Carson, a world famous neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins.
Not much to say. Very good TV movie based on the true story of Dr. Ben Carson, great acting by Cuba Gooding Jr., great dramatisation of the facts and solid emotional responses triggered throughout the entire movie. Four popcorns.

Alice In Borderland (2020-)
With his two friends, a video-game-obsessed young man finds himself in a strange version of Tokyo where they must compete in dangerous games to win.
So The Cube meets Squid Game. A lot of brilliant special effects, pew pew, Japanese girls in swimsuits, blood, gore and violence. Five popcorns and a deck of cards.
Season two trailer here, but beware, it contains spoilers from Season 1!

The Fabelmans (2022)
Growing up in post-World War II era Arizona, young Sammy Fabelman aspires to become a filmmaker as he reaches adolescence, but soon discovers a shattering family secret and explores how the power of films can help him see the truth.
Great drama, great music, great cinematography, great casting and acting. Nothing short of what you’d expect of a Spielberg movie. Five popcorns and a videocamera.

Love Sorry (2022)
When a major celebrity comes to her small town, a young woman makes desperate attempts to meet him but she’ll have to beat out her three friends.
It’s silly, it’s mindless fun, and at times is funny. Not even close to being the best of the year, but it’s good if you want to waste almost 2 hours one someting easy-going. Three popcorns because it’s actually funny. Altough I linked the trailer, don’t watch it, it’s full of spoilers.

Don't Worry Darling (2022)
A 1950s housewife living with her husband in a utopian experimental community begins to worry that his glamorous company could be hiding disturbing secrets.
Intense over-saturated colours, amazing 1950s music, costumes and hairstyles, a shit ton of booze. The perfect setting for the perfect life. And then shit hits the fan. I loved the tension and the pacing of the movie, it feels like a long “Black Mirror” episode, and it does have a few scary scenes. Five popcorns for the David Lynch vibes. I think it will go into the Movie Vault.
PS: TIL that Olivia Wilde also directed Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Dark Necessities” video

Downfall: The Case Against Boeing (2022)
A searing investigation of a once-iconic company and its tragic failures, DOWNFALL: The Case Against Boeing exposes how Wall Streetโs influence and Boeingโs crumbling internal culture resulted in two historic plane crashes, 346 fatalities, and a shocking cover-up. Directed and produced by Rory Kennedy. Produced and co-written by Mark Bailey. Executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard.
346 people died because Boeing executives only care about money. A good documentary about corporate greed putting lives in danger once again.
Five popcorns, but be warned, this will make your blood boil, because no one was held accountable and all the mafia-like corruption tried to sweep this under the rug from all possible angles.

Triangle of Sadness (2022)
A fashion model celebrity couple join an eventful cruise for the super-rich.
It’s a great comedy by Swedish director Ruben รstlund (The Square). The acting of Harris Dickinson and Charlbi Dean takes the cake though, the visuals are very impressive and the music is excellent. Woody Harrelson is amazing, and the movie’s descent into chaos and mayhem is brilliant.
Six popcorns, for what unfortunately was the last of Charlbi Dean’s films, as she sadly passed away in 2022.
Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money! Money!

Armageddon Time (2022)
A deeply personal coming-of-age story about the strength of family and the generational pursuit of the American Dream.
This is definitely an over-pretentious movie. I wouldn’t say it’s bad, but it’s not good either. The filming style is pure shit, every fucking scene is so dimly lit, it’s like they didn’t have electricity in the 80s.
The story progresses slowly and focuses around a spoiled brat, with shit humour and his dysfunctional family.
The kid actor makes a good job at making you despise and hate him and wish him to step on a Lego, so I guess that’s a good thing, but not even the combined strength of Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong can’t pull out of the water too much. Critics will love this, so I expect an Oscar nomination for no reason. Oh, and the ending is shit.

Black Adam (2022)
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods–and imprisoned just as quickly–Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Good superhero movie, great special effects, great music, some good funny moments, all in all a good watch. Story is whatever, but we don’t watch blockbusters to see the psychological development of the main characters. So four popcorns and a bolt โก๏ธ

Wednesday (2022-)
Follows Wednesday Addams’ years as a student, when she attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart and solve the mystery that embroiled her parents.
From the genius mastermind behind a lot of dark movies, Tim Burton, this series puts the big daughter of the Addams family into the spotlight. It’s “Harry Potter” meets “Murder She Wrote”, meets “Stranger Things”. A fun series, filmed in Romania, with great casting, writing, and direction. The perfect series to binge in a cold winter day.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (2022)
Star-Lord, Drax, Rocket, Mantis, and Groot engage in some spirited shenanigans in an all-new original special created for Disney+.
A nice Christmas special for the fans of the series. The singing was in the beginning a bit cringe, but it eventually got better. Three popcorns and a candy cane.

1899 (2022-)
On their journey across the vast and treacherous Atlantic Ocean, the passengers of the Kerberos encounter the biggest mystery of their lives, encountering a nightmarish riddle aboard a second ship adrift on the open sea.
From the creators of “Dark”, this drama/thriller/horror series is absolutely breath-taking. From the glitchy music (masterfully done by Ben Frost), to all the uncertain things happening, this is a masterpiece. Beautifully acted, masterfully put into scene, very well decorated with music and sound effects. This is the most expensive television show ever made in Germany, and I can say that the money was well spent here.
Even though it’s classified as horror, it’s not very scary or featuring much gore, but it has some strong disturbing scenes that will keep you with your heart in your mouth.
Oh, end every episode is ending on the sound of a classic rock song, like “White Rabbit”, “Don’t Fear The Reaper”, “All Along the Watchtower”, and others.
Seven popcorns and all I can tell is that I can’t wait to binge Season two, whenever it will get released. (Unless it gets cancelled, like Westworld did.)
Wake up!
