In 1930s Italy, a veteran World War I pilot is cursed to look like an anthropomorphic pig.

Another fantastic animation from Studio Ghibli, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The story is simple, straight forward, with some tear jerking moments, the music is great, and the Japanese original voice actors are entertaining as always.

It gets six popcorns and a place into the Movie Vault.

Great female cast, the movie is a slow burn mixing the “why” and the “how it feels”. Inspired by true events, it has some shocking turns and spins.

Four popcorns and a good contender for “Best Movie” at the 2023 Oscars.

A post apocalyptic saga spanning multiple timelines, telling the stories of survivors of a devastating flu as they attempt to rebuild and reimagine the world anew while holding on to the best of what’s been lost.

The story is great, the cinematography is excellent, but I loved the decaying state of the post-apocalyptic world and the way the stories unfolded into each other.

Six popcorns and a strong addition to the Movie Vault, especially since it has only ten episodes and an ending.

Drive To Survive is back for its fifth season, to cover the 2022 Formula One Championship season. Not only it’s got new car designs, new regulation, it also got a lot of Ferrari drama, Max, Charles, Mattia 🤡, Christian and Geri Halliwell Horner, Roscoe, and Gunther Steiner. What’s not to like about it?

After a global pandemic destroys civilization, a hardened survivor takes charge of a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity’s last hope.

The story is great, the cinematography is excellent, but what takes the cake is the good chemistry between Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Mandalorian) and Bella Ramsey (the badass Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones).

Six popcorns and a strong contender for the Movie Vault, but let’s hope HBO won’t axe this as it did with Westworld.

The eagerly awaited second series of Clarkson’s Farm will see new animals and crops; Jeremy’s dealings with the local council as he attempts to diversify his operation with a restaurant; and Kaleb yet again saving the day on numerous occasions. You can expect a deeper insight into another year on Diddly Squat Farm as Jeremy aims to expand his (very) limited agricultural knowledge under the watchful eye of his no-nonsense team; tractor driver Kaleb, stone wall favourite Gerald, advisor ‘Cheerful’ Charlie, Jeremy’s better-half-turned-farm-shop-keeper Lisa and many more. Get ready for more farming faux pas, as we follow Jeremy & co on their agricultural adventures.

Petrolhead orangutan Jeremy Clarkson traded the fast cars for a slow life in the countryside. The first season was brilliant, now they’re back with tales from a new year. Fantastic show, six popcorns and this might go in the Movie Vault.

The exploits of various guests and employees of a tropical resort over the span of a week.

Very very good dramedy, keeps the tension very well, while providing a nice story, with good turns. The humour is there, the visuals are fantastic, the acting is fantastic. The music is also fantastic, the score being composed by Cristobal Tapia De Veer.

I just finished Season One and it’s fantastic, it’s a great contender for the Movie Vault and it gets six popcorns.

While the first season stars Murray Bartlett, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Brittany O’Grady, Sydney Sweeney and Steve Zahn, the second Season brings into the spotlight F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Theo James, Aubrey Plaza, Meghann Fahy, with the excellent appearance of Jennifer Coolidge (Stifler’s Mum ❤️) in both.

Follows a new couple and their families, who find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences.

A black african-american and a jew Jewish person walk into a bar. Or something. It’s a movie about how two people coming from different families, cultures and backgrounds can overcome racism (from one to the other), ignorance and stereotypes. It’s basically a politically-correct Romeo and Juliet, but with more cliches and a happy ending. It has some funny moments, but not even the great trio of Fox Mulder, Elaine Bennes and Eddie Murphy can’t drag this over the water.

Two popcorns, because it’s better that watching paint dry.

Standard Romanian comedy, some funny moments, decent jokes that pulled some laughs. 3 popcorns, good on a slow day.

A young German soldier’s terrifying experiences and distress on the western front during World War I.

Germany, May 1917. 17-year-old Paul Baumer enthusiastically enlists in the German army and heads off to war. His head is filled with patriotism, honour, visions of heroism and the confidence that Germany will win the war. He soon learns that his impressions of war are far from the reality.

This is your normal war movie: a lot of senseless loss, capturing the horrors of war, the madness of the ones who lead it and the sadness of the ones who fight it. It’s raw, bloody, brutal, and at some points even gross, just as any movie about war should be. It’s a good lesson for the morons who still preach war, especially since there’s war going on not even 500 miles away from where i’m standing.

Good movie, the special effects are great, the music (including the drone sound) is fantastic, the acting is great. All in all, a six popcorns movie, deserving its nine Oscar nominations (Best Movie, Best International Movie, Makeup & Hair, Original Score, Sound, Visual FX, Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Production Design)

The story of Kaleidoscope is loosely inspired by real-life events surrounding Hurricane Sandy when $70 billion in bonds went missing from downtown Manhattan.

Very good mini-series starring Giancarlo Esposito, Paz Vega and Tati Gabrielle. The pacing is great, the direction is good, acting is very good and the episodes are nicely written. A nice experiment with this mini-series is that some of the episodes are random for each user, always starting with “Black”, which is just a technical introduction, and ending with “Red”, “Pink” and “White”. Funny enough, the order I got was the same as the order noted on IMDb, Black-Yellow-Green-Blue-Orange-Violet-Red-Pink-White. It doesn’t matter the order of the Y-G-B-O-V episodes, they still make sense as the partially hint at each others.

Nicely done show, five popcorns.

A Life of Speed: The Juan Manuel Fangio Story is a 2020 documentary film directed by Francisco Macri and starring Fernando Alonso, Jackie Stewart and Mika Häkkinen. The premise revolves around Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1950s, and how he won five championships driving for four different carmakers in the F1 circuit.

Maybe not the best documentary out there, but presents the most important moments in the life of Fangio, and adds up with interviews from modern World Champions, like Fernando Alonso, Nico Rosberg, as well as former Champions, like Mika Hakkinen, Jean Alesi, Jackie Stewart, but also features testimonies of persons that knew and raced Fangio.

All in all, a strong documentary about a legend. Five popcorns.
