Peacemaker (2022-)
Picking up where The Suicide Squad (2021) left off, Peacemaker returns home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport - only to discover that his freedom comes at a price.
John Cena is amazingly funny and the script is bonkers fun. Whatever Marvel lost with their dark boring shitty TV series, whatever Arrow and The Flash were missing are overcompensated in this 8-episode TV series. It’s bonkers, it’s raunchy, it has a ton of nudity and racism and it’s so over the top it’s brilliant. Seven popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

The Silent Sea (2021)
During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.
The Koreans really know how to tell and make a story. What starts as a slow burning space sci-fi thriller turns into a very good fast paced sci-fi space thriller. Besides it’s beautiful set design, it’s got very good writing, plot twists and characters with hidden motivations. Without any trace of political correctness (or politics, in general) this is one of the best and most honest mini-series out there. And it’s also starring Bae Doona (you might know her from Cloud Atlas). This has a really good production quality, even better than most Hollywood productions. Five popcorns and it’s definitely a must-watch, actually Movie Vault-worthy.

The Boy and the Beast (2015)
When a young orphaned boy living on the streets of Shibuya stumbles upon a fantastic world of beasts, he’s taken in by a gruff warrior beast looking for an apprentice.
From director and writer Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children & Summer Wars), this movie is a masterpiece, on par with what Studio Ghibli does. While I’m not a big fan of anime made for teens, this is a brilliant movie made for all ages, blending modern and traditional Japan scenery with great music and storytelling about the adventures of a misfit kid that tries to find his place in a world different than ours. Six popcorns and it jumps into the Movie Vault.

Bound (2015)
The daughter of a wealthy real estate broker falls in love with a younger man, who introduces her to B&D and S&M. Using her newly awakened sexual prowess, she finally takes charge of her own life.
Not to be mistaken for Bound (1996). This is a classic Asylum movie, which is a jab thrown at 50 Shades of Gray. You get some B-list actors or has beens (One-brother-but-not-Alec Baldwin, Charisma Carpenter aka that chick from Buffy and Veronica Mars), bring in some relatively-hot guy from somewhere and make a movie with what you got. The movie has some good moments, a decent amount of nudity and that’s pretty much all. It suffers from an identity crisis, with some scenes that are supposed to turn you on (and they do up to a point), and then followed by some corporate buyout finance bullshit scenes that take all away. It’s badly written, badly directed, decently acted, but I don’t think anyone involved in making this movie actually took themselves seriously while filming it. All in all, this gets 2 popcorns because it’s so bad, it’s actually fun and because of Charisma’s tits.

Bodies (2023)
Four detectives in four different time periods of London find themselves investigating the same murder.
Mixing suspense, Victorian London, World War II London, Modern London and Future London, it brings together suspense, police work, conspirations and science-fiction. All in all, a great mini series to binge over a couple of days. Five popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

Happy Accidents (2000)
New Yorker Ruby Weaver believes she has found the man of her dreams in Sam Deed, who is her best catch in some time–except that he assures her that he came from the future.
Ruby Weaver has man trouble: she tries to fix them, so she’s stuck herself with a string of losers. Her current lover, Sam Deed, seems different: he’s sweet, tender, just in from Dubuque, but that’s about to change pretty fast. A great movie starring Tea Leoni and Vincent D’Onofrio, who got a brilliant chemistry together. Six popcorns for this masterpiece that gets into the Movie Vault.

The Fisher King (1991)
A former radio DJ, suicidally despondent because of a terrible mistake he made, finds redemption in helping a deranged homeless man who was an unwitting victim of that mistake.
Excellent movie starring some of the best actors in Hollywood: Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams, under the masterful direction of Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Zero Theorem, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, 12 Monkeys). That’s all that needs to be said. Six popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

Singles (1992)
Romantic comedy about six of Seattle’s young people, most of whom live in the same apartment building and whose lives revolve around the city’s ever-expanding music scene. The inter-related stories about each character’s progress through the singles scene are intriguing and often very funny, and the soundtrack is a grunge fanatic’s dream, with the likes of Soundgarden, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney.
The movie is nicely paced and features a list of good actors, but what makes this a cult movie is the soundtrack. Featuring some of the best grunge bands in history, it was the place where people like me discovered Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. Three popcorns for the movie and an extra 50 for the music.

The Right Stuff (1983)
The U.S. space program’s development from the breaking of the sound barrier to selection of the Mercury 7 astronauts, from a group of test pilots with a more seat-of-the-pants approach than the program’s more cautious engineers preferred.
First of all, this is not about the 2020 mini-series made by NatGeo. That shit is stupidly retarded and takes a piss at a good story. Watch this instead. It’s a movie over three hours that is packed with action and storytelling, great writing and beautiful acting. It features some great actors, some at peak or close to it, like Lance Henriksen, Ed Harris, Dennis Quaid, Scot Glenn, even Jeff Goldblum without glasses! Six popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

The Wind Rises // ้ขจ็ซใกใฌ // Kaze Tachinu (2013)
A look at the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II.
This decades-spanning epic from maestro Hayao Miyazaki is his most unique films to date. Inspired by the stories of Jiro Horikoshi, visionary designer of one the most beautiful airplanes in history โ the famed Zero fighter โ and the writer Tatsuo Hori, this tale of love and perseverance in a turbulent world is brought to life by the vivid animation of Studio Ghibli. An excellent annimation from Studio Ghibli in the unmistakable style, direction and writing of Hayao Miyazaki. Just as with any other Japanese movie, watch it with the original Japanese voices. Five popcorns.

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya // ใใใๅงซใฎ็ฉ่ช // Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (2013)
Found inside a shining stalk of bamboo by an old bamboo cutter and his wife, a tiny girl grows rapidly into an exquisite young lady. The mysterious young princess enthralls all who encounter her, but ultimately she must confront her fate, the punishment for her crime.
Based on the classic Japanese folktale, “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter”, “The Tale of The Princess Kayuga” is the strikingly beautiful culmination of decades of contemplation by director and Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata. The animation is simple and beautiful, reminding of ol Japanese watercolour art. The soundtrack is exceptional, and the voice acting is beautiful, but make sure to watch it with the original Japanese voices. All in all, six popcorns for an extraordinary movie which jumps into the Movie Vault, next to other Studio Ghibli movies.

Catch-22 (2019)
Limited series adaptation of the classic Joseph Heller novel. Follows Captain John Yossarian and airmen in World War II.
Christopher Abbott is Yossarian, a bombardier, whose frantic obsession every time he goes up on a mission is โto come down aliveโ. His odds of success at such a simple aim keep getting worse, because Colonel Cathcart (Kyle Chandler) keeps raising the number of missions the men have to fly. More than the retreating Germans, the real enemy for Yossarian and his rag-tag bunch of friends is the bureaucracy of the military, inverting logic at every turn. The pinnacle of this is Catch-22, a military by-law which states that if you fly your missions, youโre crazy, and donโt have to fly them; all you have to do is ask. But if you as not to, then youโre sane, and so you have to fly them. George Clooney stars as the barking mad, parade-obsessed Scheisskopf. Hugh Laurie is the mellow, slightly checked-out Major de Coverley. Clooney directs the six-episode series, along with Grant Heslov and Ellen Kuras. Six popcorns for an excellent comedy mini-series that marches to the Movie Vault.
