Boss (2023)
It follows Bogdan, who takes part in an armed robbery with three men he barely knows. While fleeing the crime scene, he accidentally runs over a witness who ultimately dies. This will disrupt the very core of his moral being.
Bogdan, a methodical and intelligent ambulance driver, takes part in an armed robbery with three other men he barely knows. Although initially it seems that the four will escape without being caught, Bogdan’s world turns dramatically when he begins to suspect that one of them is manipulating the police investigation. He embarks on an obsessive investigation of his own, in an attempt to unearth the identities of his accomplices. As he uncovers new details, he spirals deeper into a spiral of fear and paranoia.
Good thriller based on some real events, with good tension mixed with some jokes here and there and some plain boring scenes, as any Romanian movie would have. It’s still a decent watch for

Ricky Gervais: Armageddon (2023)
Ricky Gervais dishes out controversial takes on political correctness and oversensitivity in a taboo-busting comedy special about the end of humanity.
It’s raunchy, it’s grotesque, it’s rude and it’s vulgar. It’s very politically incorrect and upsets a lot of woke people. In short, it’s good. It gets four popcorns for breaking every snowflake rule and for making so many politically correct cunts upset. The end, the “Schindler’s List” bit is absolutely brilliant.

Mystère // Vicky and Her Mystery (2021)
Victoria, 8 year old girl whose mother just passed away, relocates with her father in a small mountain village. She finds solace in the adoption of a puppy of unknown origin found in an isolated farm.
Great family movie to watch on a winter afternoon. It’s emotional and suits perfectly for everyone aged 3 to 123, telling the story of a father, a daughter and their “Gift from the forest” pet. All in all, a very good watch for the entire family, getting a well-deserved 5 popcorns, not only for being based on a true story, but also because of the great music and filming locations.

Keeping Up with the Joneses (2016)
An ordinary suburban couple (Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher) finds it’s not easy keeping up with the Joneses (Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot) – their impossibly gorgeous and ultra-sophisticated new neighbors – especially when they discover that Mr. and Mrs. “Jones” are covert operatives.
Great fun flick with decent laughs and some action, perfect to see on a lazy afternoon with friends. This won’t win many awards, but it’s not a waste of time either. It also has Gal Gadot in underwear, so that’s a win. Three popcorns.

Abigail (2019)
Abigail’s town has been closed for years due to a mysterious epidemic that caused most people in town to be taken away, including Abigail’s father. When Abby discovers her father could still be alive, she sets out on a journey that completely overturns everything she thought she knew about the world, her family, and herself.
Directed by Aleksandr Boguslavskiy, this is a brilliant little movie. With good acting from Eddie Marsan and Tinatin Dalakishvili, the movie takes us to a steampunk dystopian world, similar to Europe’s 1930s. It seems that it was filmed in English and (maybe because of accents) was re-dubbedd, and many people found that distracting and bad. However, the only source I was able to find this movie had Russian dubbing, which was actually good. The technical part is spotless, there are a lot of flashy and well made special effects, with a lot of good CGI. All in all, this is a good fantasy flick, greatly blending magic and storytelling, akin to Harry Potter and Hugo. Six popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

Elemental (2023)
Follows Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, earth- and air-residents live together.
eck out a brand-new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental,” an all-new original feature film that transports moviegoers to an extraordinary place called Element City, where a host of elements live and work. The trailer showcases each element—air, earth, water and fire—and what sets them apart according to Ember, a quick-witted and fiery woman who’s always stayed close to home in Firetown. In “Elemental,” which opens in theaters on June 16, she finally ventures out of her comfort zone to explore this spectacular world born from the imaginations of Pixar’s filmmakers and specifically crafted for the big-screen experience. Element City is inspired by big cities around the globe and embraces theorized contributions from each elemental community—from giant pine-tree-like buildings and waterfall skyscrapers to a tornado-shaped arena called Cyclone Stadium.

Peacemaker (2022-)
Picking up where The Suicide Squad (2021) left off, Peacemaker returns home after recovering from his encounter with Bloodsport - only to discover that his freedom comes at a price.
John Cena is amazingly funny and the script is bonkers fun. Whatever Marvel lost with their dark boring shitty TV series, whatever Arrow and The Flash were missing are overcompensated in this 8-episode TV series. It’s bonkers, it’s raunchy, it has a ton of nudity and racism and it’s so over the top it’s brilliant. Seven popcorns and jumps into the Movie Vault.

The Silent Sea (2021)
During a perilous 24-hour mission on the moon, space explorers try to retrieve samples from an abandoned research facility steeped in classified secrets.
The Koreans really know how to tell and make a story. What starts as a slow burning space sci-fi thriller turns into a very good fast paced sci-fi space thriller. Besides it’s beautiful set design, it’s got very good writing, plot twists and characters with hidden motivations. Without any trace of political correctness (or politics, in general) this is one of the best and most honest mini-series out there. And it’s also starring Bae Doona (you might know her from Cloud Atlas). This has a really good production quality, even better than most Hollywood productions. Five popcorns and it’s definitely a must-watch, actually Movie Vault-worthy.

The Boy and the Beast (2015)
When a young orphaned boy living on the streets of Shibuya stumbles upon a fantastic world of beasts, he’s taken in by a gruff warrior beast looking for an apprentice.
From director and writer Mamoru Hosoda (Wolf Children & Summer Wars), this movie is a masterpiece, on par with what Studio Ghibli does. While I’m not a big fan of anime made for teens, this is a brilliant movie made for all ages, blending modern and traditional Japan scenery with great music and storytelling about the adventures of a misfit kid that tries to find his place in a world different than ours. Six popcorns and it jumps into the Movie Vault.
