In mid-nineteenth-century northern France, a coal mining town’s workers are exploited by the mine’s owner. One day, they decide to go on strike, and the authorities repress them.

Showing the incredible gap between the rich and the poor, it’s an excellent story of rich and poor, of oppression, of capitalism against socialism, in this eternal struggle of abundance against subsistence. Six popcorns for an excellent movie that is still actual, even if people are not going down in the mines each day.
