The year is 2022, so following its successful reboot, it’s time for another episode of Assassin’s Creed: Origins! Oh wait, this is Death on the Nile and it’s a movie, despite the heavy-using CGI of the Nile landscape and over-saturated colour palette.
The movie is quite catchy, employing a great cast, employing a ton of A-listers, like Wonder Woman, that girl from Black Panther/Mirror, the redhead wife of Jon Snow, and undercover Ali G. Oh wait, someone just whispered that’s actually Russell Brand, one of Sasha Baron Cohen’s personas. Whatever.
The movie itself is actually good, a decent watch for a Sunday evening with a bowl of popcorn and some Egyptian coffee, or tea. Dunno what they brew between the pyramids. The CGI is nice, the way-too-bright colours are okey and the story is twisty and engaging enough, just as with any Poirot movie, with the long panning line-ups and the fact that everyone feels like the killer at some point. The movie is interesting enough, but the ending disappoints. Three popcorns and a waste of good actors.
