A French movie made in the 2000s that looks and feels like it was made in the 1960s. By now it’s a rule of thumb: if it’s black&white and people are speaking French, then it’s going to be a weird experience. It’s dark, violent, gritty, and “enjoy” is not a word that will describe your experience. However, it’s a good thriller, but it’s also a sci-fi, because it portrays a Frenchman taking a bath. Jokes aside, it creates a portal into an underworld of the kind you see only in movies, but could as well exist in reality. Great movie, with a great setup and idea, which reminds me of a lot of movies like “Hostel” and “The Belko Experiment”, although this is a bit more artistic, reminiscing of the new-age Frech cinema of the 1860s. Five popcorns and it goes into the Movie Vault.
